New BSPP Honorary Member

The Board of the BSPP is delighted to announce that Mike Jeger has been made an Honorary Member of the Society.

Having worked in the UK, the USA and the Netherlands, Mike is currently Emeritus Professor in the Division of Ecology and Evolution and Senior Research Investigator in the Centre for Environmental Policy based at the Silwood Park campus of Imperial College London.

During his distinguished career he has worked with a wide range of plant pathogens and crops and has collaborated extensively with agronomists, horticulturalists, environmental and social scientists. Mike has published more than 200 refereed journal articles and book chapters and supported nearly 30 PhD students in the UK, the USA and the Netherlands.

Mike was Senior Editor of Plant Pathology from 1990 to 1994 and President of the BSPP in 1999, having previously served as a member of Council from 1987 to 1989. He continues as a member of the Society. Mike was made a Fellow of the American Phytopathological Society in 1988. Additionally, he was President of the Association of Applied Biologists in 2009/10. He is currently as Editor-in-Chief of the European Journal of Plant Pathology.

I am sure that the whole membership will want to join the Board in congratulating Mike on becoming an Honorary Member of the British Society for Plant Pathology.
